A state-government parking facility on the east side of the Mall replaced 9 sidewalk curb cuts as part of a sidewalk crack-and-spall repair. What Permits Does Cojo Handle?
Cojo coordinates Salem Public Works right-of-way permits for sidewalk-side work and any traffic-control plan required by the corridor. For private-property parking-lot retrofits where the curb cut is on private land, only a building permit is needed and only when the dome work is part of a larger alteration. Permit coordination is included in the install quote.
Salem Climate Considerations
Salem's mild Willamette Valley climate puts moderate stress on dome panels:
- Wet winters drive adhesive joint failure on surface-applied panels after 8 to 12 years. Cojo specifies polyurethane joint sealant and recommends a 5-year re-seal cycle.
- Summer UV exposure is moderate but enough to fade brick red panels in 8 to 10 years. Safety yellow holds LRV reliably for 12 to 15 years.
- Snow events are rare and snowplow damage is not a typical failure mode in Salem proper.
